I DO NOT RECOMMEND EBAY FOR BUYERS OR SELLERS! Buyers have to pay higher prices for items as sellers have to charge more to offset their HIGH seller fees. Sellers lose biz to other websites because of having to charge higher prices to offset eBay fees!
...And I'm just getting started with my complaints!
SELLERS: TAKE BACK YOUR DIGNITY & YOUR SELF-RESPECT! EBAY IS INSULTING YOUR INTELLIGENCE!
STOP ALLOWING THEM TO MANIPULATE YOU! There are alternatives - and some GREAT ONES!
BONANZA.COM, ETSY.COM, AMAZON.COM, EBID.NET, AND MORE!
eBay has gotten more and more greedy over the years, and they also act more and more SELF-RIGHTEOUS as time goes by. They think they rule the world of selling sites because they are the largest, and they just about have a monopoly on this service. They don't respect their clients or even treat them like valued customers any longer. In the beginning, they treated me like royalty, because I was a new client to them when they were still fairly new to the world wide web. It's the exact opposite of that these days. Of the very first ten sellers to join eBay, only one of these sellers is still with them, based on the results of the research I have done.
Sellers are treated like convicts today, only worse! They are guilty before proven innocent! You can pay your dues on time month after month, abide by their rules every month and year after year, be the most upstanding eBay citizen there is, but make one tiny mistake, and you are thrown into eBay JAIL in a straight jacket! They change their policies almost weekly it seems, and who can read their 10,000 pages of policies to know what's allowed and what's not allowed? I certainly don't have time for that with five kids at home and I'm the only one at home taking care of them most of the time! My husband works outside the home and works almost 55 hours a week, so I need a selling site I don't have to STUDY every day in order to use it!
And I'm not talking about trying to sell something that is not allowed. I'm talking about using a word in my description or accidentally posting a wrong photo out of 12 photos posted. Stupid things like that. It's not like I'm trying to sell illegal items or something obvious that I should know better about! One mistake was just as I said...I had an item for sale and posted 12 photos of it, only one photo out of the 12, I think the 10th photo in the array of photos, was of my dog! lol !!! It was a simple mistake, and I truly do not believe anyone thought I was selling my dog when the title, description, and all other 11 photos were very clear that I was selling an antique bowl! That was just one of many things that caused me to lose my Top Seller rating so that they no longer had to give me a discount on my fees. That discount was huge considering I used to spend around $3,000 a month with them. I truly feel they looked for every little thing they could find just to keep from giving me that discount. It was a TINY discount to them in the grand scheme of things, but it was huge to me as a part-time seller and full-time mom of five children who really needed that savings. GREED.
I don't appreciate being treated like a convict for making a mistake or for not knowing that they changed their rules because I didn't have time to read their daily updates. And to be honest, over 20 years ago (maybe 30?) when I started selling on eBay I didn't have the time to read their BOOK of rules!
I highly recommend http://www.bonanza.com as a much better alternative! I have been an eBay seller for decades, and no company has ever made me feel worse than eBay. I am NOT a valued customer, and I have slowly gone to the poor house using their services. They are greedy and force sellers to increase their prices to unreasonable prices just so we can make a small profit due to the almost 20% that they keep when a sale is made.
For this reason, buyers are better off going to Bonanza as well. Sellers do not have to raise their prices to offset the fees because the fees are virtually non-existent! Bonanza's fees are extremely low and they don't nickel and dime sellers to death for every little enhancement.
What's better, Bonanza treats everyone like a valued customer, whether they are a buyer or a seller. Sellers are given the benefit of the doubt and are not made to feel like dirt because they made a mistake or didn't know all the rules. Buyers are helped when there is an issue with a seller. I bought an item from a seller that was not as described and Bonanza helped me recover my loss. There will be BAD SELLERS on ANY SITE! Crooks are everywhere! So don't blame a website when a seller does not hold up to their word! Bonanza allows sellers to accept PayPal and credit cards as well as other forms of payment, so if a transaction with a seller goes awry, you always have your bank to work with you to get your money back. PayPal will freeze the seller's funds if you did not get what you paid for, so anyone who blames the auction site for a bad transaction is pointing their fingers at the wrong parties!
Another negative experience I can vouch for: my mother-in-law lives in the same neighborhood with someone who was banned from eBay for unlawful practices. After that happened, the next time my MIL tried to sell an item on eBay, she was told she was also banned, because they shared the same IP address! They live in a condo community and the broadband signal is shared by all condo owners. So if one eBay seller in the condos messes up, it is taken out on everyone else in that same condo building since they all share the same IP address. WOW! She has been trying to get this sorted out for 4 months. She finally gave up and opened up a booth on Bonanza like I did, and she has been very happy with Bonanza. They do not get the same amount of traffic as eBay, but the more we all spread the word, the bigger Bonanza will get, and if we all work together on this, we can put an end to the demeaning way eBay treats us.
Bonanza is so easy to set up and you are not limited to how many items you can sell from the beginning! You can open up a store (A "booth", as they call it) the very first day and list 10,000 items if you want to! They don't limit you unless you are found to be guilty of something, ripping people off or what not. They treat you like you are a good person unless you prove otherwise. And that's the way it should be! They have a lot of cool features too! In fact, they had many features well before eBay did. eBay basically copied their ideas I believe. Like having Collections...that was a Bonanza feature from day one. They allow you to write essays and long recommendations on sellers so others know who can be trusted. There are so many features they have that are good for both buyers and sellers. I love Bonanza and I will never go back to eBay after the way they treated me as well as my mother-in-law.
I have been a loyal customer of eBay almost since their birth, and they treated me like dirt when I made a minor mistake. The thousands of dollars I paid them monthly did not matter. The fact that I'm human and made a human error did not matter. It was very clear that the mistakes I made were human errors and none of it was anything that was meant to be malicious or to hurt anyone, and none of it DID hurt anyone, but they treated me like I was a monster.
eBay never fears losing just one little customer who spends only a few thousand dollars a month because they have millions more customers just like them. We can put an end to that if we all work together! Take back your dignity and come over to the Bonanza side with the rest of us who finally got tired of being treated like dirt and who finally got wise to eBay's ways! I keep mentioning Bonanza only because that is the site I have personal experience with, and they always treat me like gold! But I know there are other wonderful sites to use as well, and you won't log out feeling like dirt every day after reading negative messages left for you!
I also hear that Amazon is much better to work with than eBay is, but I did not have the time to figure out how to set up a store on Amazon. I started to read what they require and got confused quickly with crying babies and toddlers getting into things while I was trying to set up an account with them. I have a friend who uses Amazon and she said it was quite an ordeal getting started as you have to research the products you are selling and find those same items' stock photos and descriptions, so I'm not sure how that would work with my handmade jewelry. I guess in this case ETSY is the better alternative for me. My friend on Amazon did say that once she got set up though, and got the gist of how it all works, she loved it and she will be a lifer with Amazon. She said she is not treated like the dog she was made to feel like on eBay.
I should probably give etsy a try, but I found Bonanza and I'm quite happy with them so I will probably stay there and not worry with the other venues, but for those of you who are looking for other choices and want to get away from eBay as much as I did, I would recommend Bonanza, Etsy, or Amazon, ebid.net, or all four, based on what my friends and family have told me of their experiences. Anything is better than being treated like scum! You couldn't pay me to go back to eBay. Even if they were to go back to the way they were 30 years ago, they insulted my character, and me as a person. I will not forgive that. I am a Christian woman and I would never intentionally hurt another human being by falsely representing the items I sell, or in any way whatsoever.
PLEASE REMEMBER that on ANY selling site, you will find sellers who are scam-artists. The site itself can't possibly know that before consumers submit their complaints. Once a consumer or two complains, the selling site should THEN keep an eye on the seller and investigate the accusations. They should not be accusatory from the beginning though, as most people are basically honest, and those of us who are honest should not have to pay for the crimes, or for the criminal minds, of those few people who are dishonest.
In addition, some consumers/buyers will complain about anything. And sometimes they are simply wrong about their complaint. They failed to read the auction listing correctly, they did not understand what it was they were buying, etc. So even with a single complaint, the selling site should take caution in accusing the seller. The seller deserves to be heard and for the situation to be investigated before being thrown to the dungeon! I did not get the opportunity to explain my side of the story in a buyer complaint...and I might add that in the DECADES of me selling on eBay, it was the ONLY buyer complaint I ever received! It was just assumed by eBay that the buyer was telling the truth, so I was reprimanded. That was the status I earned after decades of being probably one of their best sellers on their entire website.
THE WAY EBAY TREATED ME IS UNFORGIVEABLE, and I have too much self-respect, intelligence, and dignity to ever allow any company to treat me that way again.
Quel que soit le produit que vous cherchez, ebay est là pour vous servir. Ce site est très intéressant pour effectuer des achats en ligne. C'est sécurisé, rapide et on y trouve tout ! Je suis très satisfaite
I usually shop on ebay for almost anything. Prices are usually great, customer service is great, and they products are usually what the picture or wording say they are.
However this summer i had bad experiences with used children clothing, 3 times. I think that the sellers were just trying to make a fast buck. all 3 occasions the clothing i got were not what was shown in the picture at all, 2 shipments I had boxes of old clothing and some that were way to small for my kids.
The thing is they advise you to return to sender and they will refund you your money back; but You have to pay for the items to be shipped back, and often time shipping is more than the item is worth because of weight, so it is not even worth it.
If you are buying children clothes off of ebay please make sure you pay through Paypal, so you can easily recover your money.
Ebay money back guarantee? LOL!!!!!!!!
Bon site pour les amoureux du shopping en ligne. Toutefois, il vous faudra faire très attention aux vendeurs pas très honnêtes. Il est d’ailleurs conseillé de consulter les avis des autres internautes avant toute transaction.
I search for item and they gave adult content, not safe for children. I sold item and eBay took the money I earned and refunded buyer. I buy item and I receive counterfeit. Customer service is a robot. This is illegal underground operation that should be shut down forever.
