Things like learning how to truly use a dictionary. How to read, which means not just learning how to mouth the words, or scan lines, but how to KNOW when you've gone past a misunderstood word and what to do about it. "Context analysis"?? Psycho-babble!! Using that you're supposed to glean the definition of a word from the words around it. Nonsense. When you get to a word you don't understand ... STOP READING ANY FURTHER! Get a proper dictionary and look up the definition of the word, use it to make sentences, until you're sure you KNOW the meaning of that word. ABLE is dedicated to getting these, and more, TRUE educational tools broadly known and used by all. Readin', Writin' and 'Rithmetic put a man on the moon by 1969. Would you trust this generation of kids who can't calculate what 10% of a $1.39 is in their heads, without a calculator to do the same? We have kids who can't write (because only printing is taught in schools today and neither are grammar and spelling), can't read (because they don't understand what they're reading), and can't learn because they don't know the tools of learning. America's kids rank among Third World nations in literacy, science, mathematics, geography and the like. Yet their "self-esteem" perceptions are the highest in the world! Of course they think they're great! They've been drugged! They're high! And false senses of ability, confidence and the like are sensations drugged persons experience. ABLE is dedicated to placing into society and our schools REAL tools that help our kids --and everyone-- really learn and really able to apply what they learn. Because if you can't apply it, if you can't use what you just studied or read, you don't know it. Go back, find your missed understandings, get them cleared to understanding, and see if you can APPLY what you just learned. The test of education is APPLICATION. If you can't apply it, you don't know it. So whats the point of wasting your time gong through the motions of "study" if you can't use what you just "studied"? There is no point. Yet our kids are taught that if they can pass the test, if they can vomit up what they just "read", they're smart. But they're never tested to see if they can apply what they just read.
