One of the most popular websites for memes and meme-related content, the Cheezburger network is one of the oldest and most reputable places for meme creation and information. Unfortunately, the very existence of this website perpetuates the Internet meme phenomenon, which only further extends the life of some of the most embarrassing aspects of Internet culture. The site is technically safe for children, but we already have enough meme-spouting, shitposting 12-year-olds, so I do not recommend this as suitable for children.

It has some pretty funny stuff, but it's definitely not for kids. I have no idea why it's rated 'excellent' in the kid friendly department. It also has privacy issues, and at one time had a trojan virus, according to Google Safe Browsing diagnostic page. "Of the 4564 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 0 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2013-11-24, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on ***** Malicious software includes 1 trojan(s)."

Cheezburger Network seems to get away with pretty much anything these days, it's really not on. Adult content does not appear to be segregated or filterable at all by this network of sites; most sub-sections seem to suffer from mission creep to some extent, too. But the really bad part is that Ghostery found no less than nine trackers when I visited today. From web beacons to targeted advertising, this network is no longer trustworthy and I've unsubscribed. I just wish I could delete my account too.
