The embassy asks for your drivers licence for verification. The Chinese government has already hacked and profiled all american citizens private information, including SSN, Medical record number, and your drivers licence. So with that info, they can further profile you. But if you don't give that, they will not issue visa.

流氓政府，外籍华人办签证，强制剪原来护照，强制要你美国驾驶执照，如一有不对，即便拒签。天朝收你个人信息，加上本国已经偷取美国个人信息多年，凭一驾照，自然可以得你全部个人资料，回国如果闹事，自然打入黑名单，如果赚钱，可以想尽办法利用你的个人信息公开抹黑，最终以其威胁。
