To state it briefly: I do not trust Final Media Player, because in my experience it induced me installing bundled unwanted programs with very annoying behaviour. The editor of Final Media Player has argued that one is not obliged to install the third party software. This may be legally exact, but I find it unworthy of trust. Indeed, installing Final Media Player with the default procedure (pressing Enter at all steps) will install the unwanted third party software. Trustful users will find themselves stuck with those software that will at best interfere with their usual experience, at worst make their computer useless, as almost was my experience told below. Final Media Player was suggested by my Windows 7 when I tried to read a video in FLV format. I thus started installing it with naive confidence: I pressed Enter at the two first steps installation without paying close attention. First step was a classical benign accept to the usual terms of agreements that nobody really entirely reads. I accepted second step without really reading what it was... then I got suspicious from third step on, as it proposed to install third party software I clearly did not need. I cautiously declined those. I would realise later that it was too late! When I finished installing Final Media Player, it worked fine to read my video in FLV format. I however noticed a newly installed "TAPLIKA" program anchored in my Windows bottom-of-screen toolbar. At the same time, my Firefox home page had been automatically changed to TAPLIKA.COM and my search engine to TAPLIKA SEARCH. This unwanted behaviour was obviously suspicious. I quicky found out that TAPLIKA is a "browser hijacker", see for instance on ***** "Taplika.com homepage will display advertisements and sponsored links in your search results, and may collect search terms from your search queries. The Taplika Search hijack is used to boost advertising revenue, as in the use of blackhat SEO, to inflate a site’s page ranking in search results." After reading a few advices on internet forums, I removed TAPLIKA with Adwcleaner. Worse, the following openings of my Windows session froze with a black screen! Fortunately, I had created a guest account on my computer, whose session could still be opened. I thus managed to install the free trial version of the ESET NOD32 antivirus. It helped me remove the remaining unwanted parts, and my old sessions worked again after a few trials (but still slower than before, probably not completely solved all trouble). I was much irritated by the wasted time and energy, and now impending fear that I left some unwanted component. For instance, Round World was installed the same day as TAPLIKA and Final Media Player, and I am still unsure how to safely uninstall it (the uninstall executable file appears to contain viruses as well).

I tried to install this and got a million freakin' pop ups. DO NOT INSTALL THIS. Ughhhhh. Running Malwarebytes now and getting a ton of Malware detections from this.

This is a great program, but the installer includes a LOT of malicious software. If you ever want to use this, UNCHECK every offer included. Otherwise, it is a great program. The software that comes with it isn't malicious, but you didn't want them to be installed in the first place and that's why it's bad.

It was right and fair that I now remove my earlier comment about this site and it's product, having HONESTLY not had a great experience with the download, I've gone back a year later to find a clean download and installation and good free audio and video player!

It does offer additional products during installation, but all are compliant with the TRUSTe Trusted Download program and 100% optional to install, so your claim of viruses and malicious content is simply NOT true! Best regards, Brian Rasmusson Bitberry Software, Developer of Final Media Player http://www.finalmediaplayer.com
You don't have to install the other software. Just click cancel for the pc confidential when it's installing and it will install only the media player. This player was recommended by microsoft, I don't think they would promote malicious software.

Just Downloaded it. Didn't get any viruses.

When downloading software, say NO to installing other software. Read EACH install screen and say NO, What make it a potential danger is its a bundled software package. The last program installed is Final Media player. I ran several spyware/adware/virus programs and found it to be safe.

it just has a lot of extra software downloads for funding. anything a person downloads is downloaded after they agree'd to it

It does NOT contain viruses. Final Media Player is 100% free. It offers a few other products during installation, which we earn a commission from. This is what pays for development of the player. ALL products are OPTIONAL to install and ALL products are Trustee certified, so no malware. The comment about it containing viruses is plain wrong.
