Seems like that this site makes you download malware. Thought i would give it a try since the URL in the taskbar showed a "legit" link. The file was an .exe and was instantly deleted by Windows Defender (Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.C!ml)
Don't listen to the people saying that its a virus and that the files are .exe there supposed to be that just double click the file and install the rar to your pc then you extract it to get your rom but some people are just stupid and don't get simple things like that.
Do not trust this, go to emuparadise instead. This website downloads viruses, and half of the folders it installs from an EXE file are empty, or have a link that says that the game is "not found". Don't trust this at all
Me and my friends wanted to play some games together on Dolphin Emulator. Specifically Mario Power Tennis. We couldn't find it anywhere else but freeroms.
I decided I was going to download it first. The ROM is a .exe! IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY PEOPLE. I still let it download, and when it was finished, I scanned it for viruses. It said it didn't have any... BOY WERE THEY WRONG. It downloaded a BUNCH of malware, and infected the snoz out of my pc. All just to see that there was a note in the file saying "This game is not available right now, see freeroms.com for more games!"
TL:DR, The website has lots of malware, and the rom came in a .exe file.
Downloaded. Wrong file type, but I decided to try it. Installer tried to get me to install a bunch of random crap I didn't want before telling me that the original thing I had tried to download was unavailable. Seems pretty fricken fishy to me.
First "ROM" I downloaded here was an .exe file. Ran it without checking it, and immediately asks for administrator permission. I realize what I've done and say No, and immediately close the installer. I thought I was fine after that.
Two weeks later, I turn on my desktop icons, and I see a shortcut to continue the installation. So I download malwarebytes and quarantine it. Don't be fooled by the site's green icon status.
The website used to be reputable, but it has recently been either hacked by or sold to an adware company. Downloads from the site show as being from "Farmgiftbundle", rather than freeroms. Game files are supposed to be .zip files, but it downloads .exe files instead. I'm not sure if these files are trojans, because I am on chrome os, which cannot run them. The site is no longer trustworthy.
