I used to have a website with them long ago (I've since lost the password and e-mail to it) back before the domain changed to webs.com. I found my old website, and it seems that some of the old widgets have become infected with malware! That means any old site that still has the freewebs domain could potentially be infected.
I would stay away from any freewebs domain.

I've had my site on freewebs.com for years. No malware or viruses have been reported to me since I've been working on it over the last couple of years. I think it depends on what one is looking for on freewebs. Doesn't seem to have a scanning - the - client - protocol to keep out spammers. That is all I have to say on that matter. Take care.
Immediately attempted to install a hi-jacking antivirus program. Had to shut down the browser and run two different programs to check my computer, and and No-Script to it to beef up protection! Site should be considered for blocking, or they need to check to see if they have been compromised.
It seems by the very nature of this site that it's great for both legitimate and illegitimate uses. In all likeliness any ads or malware associated with this site are from people using freewebs to create a malicious site. I use at least one website that seems to be built upon freewebs that I highly doubt has any malicious content (not child friendly but then it's a college group).
