***** .it seems teknum systems uses a very protective updater that doesnt like to be removed though there is a downloadable tool to disable it hidden away in thier privacy policy section at the handybits site.I remember i had to delete an ssmenu.dll to stop it reloading. ***** *****

This company - Teknum - makes various little utilities, including EasyCrypto Deluxe, Zip&Go, Voice Mail, File Shredder, VirusScan Integrator. My experience is that their software is troublesome. I installed EasyCrypto, didn't like it and uninstalled it, quite some time ago. Now I find an updater is running at startup, and reinserts itself even after its startup entry was deleted. There is a forum post here by someone who had something similar, the mechanism seems to be the same, but in a different file, %windir%\system32\ssmenu.dll *****

Adds a hidden executable called Update.exe to Program Files > Common Files > Teknum Systems, that executes every time you startup your PC. It is registered to Windows as a service. It never asked permission for that. It is not needed for the program it came with and you can not disable it in the program's settings. It says it is an update service but all you really know is that it connects to the internet. Further behavior so far unknown. After un-installing the software that installed it in the directory created in Common Files it was not deleted and the update service remained active. Extremely suspicious. I have manually deleted it but it just reappears again.
