I have a lifetime subscription on IJ, & i love it. It's never chapped my a%# yet.

I've had nothing but good experiences as a long time Insanejournal user. I have paid journals and have never had a problem with not receiving notifications or having any spam (I hide my e-mail or use an alternate e-mail on some journals). The site administrator has been very good at taking down controversial ads on the site that may cause offense and has done a lot of the roleplaying community a great service by keeping things up and running before moving service providers. I highly recommend this, since it's tons better than LJ, with a LOT more icon space, and IJ is owned by someone residing in the United States. For those who seem to be having issues, you need to adjust the privacy and account settings accordingly and there isn't a problem using the free service. I've never been spam bombed after years of being on IJ, nor have I caught anything malicious from the advertisments. I also haven't ever run into any content that wasn't labeled NSFW in the roleplay communities for that matter. Nothing is posted openly that I've yet seen. Everyone polices themselves pretty well. It's a good site and deserves more recognition.

InsaneJournal is a blogging site with a large roleplaying population. User culture encourages bloggers to place potentially not safe for work content under clickable links.
5
Instead of resetting a password, InsaneJournal sends the old one in clear text to your email address. Terrible security practice.

is a blog site, so anything can happen report to site moderator, not downgrade entire site for one spammer or phisher if only people didn't abuse free websites

Like Facebook and other social media sites, there are privacy settings you need to enable to protect things like birthday, email address, school info, etc. Beyond that, free accounts do have advertisements (which can be easily blocked by things like noscript and adblocker, but defeat the purpose of keeping it free), but the management of the site takes care to alert and inform their users, create continuous uptime, and keep the site clean of malware.

I've never had a problem with this site. Just like livejournal or journalfen, there are some spambots, but no malware that I know of, and otherwise safe and secure and following the usual rules for adult , teen and children safe ratings as those other blog services.

This site runs on the same code as Livejournal and is essentially the same concept. The site admin works hard to keep the site running and secure, and is quick to act when any problems occur. I have used this site for years and never had any problems with spam, viruses, or malware. The only thing about the site that might be objectionable is that some content may not be child-friendly, but most users tend to post warnings about such content and place it behind a cut.

Not sure why this site is suddenly marked as bad. I've used it for years and done business with them. The only thing people might need to be aware of is adult content on personal journals.

Website linked from spam. My email was extracted from a friend's hijacked computer. Extreme caution required!

There's a vast role playing community which is fit for teenagers and above (generally). Most communities with not-safe-for-work content clearly label it as such, and make an effort not to allow underage users to join their game. You can also find communities where users share their writing, art, and graphics. I have never experienced security issues with this site, and have been a member for nearly a year now with several accounts, some personal and some related to role playing.

The administrator is very hands-on, and the site is safe and secure. I've had my account since shortly after it was started, and have worked on board the support team personally in the past.

I've used Insanejournal for years, and I've never had any of the problems from it the other commentors are talking about. It's a great site with a very thriving rp community. Most of the games are ....less than child friendly. But people usually mark if their threads are nsfw or not.
