Not safe. It installs a minecraft.jar into your computer which contains trojan. But now it is closed down.

I decided to try out the site, since everyone was saying this was completely safe ( even though illegal ). Then, all of a sudden, a window shows up, saying "Application Blocked by Security Settings."

This is not a virus at all. It was actually a free version of Minecraft you could play in your browser. Sadly, it got closed by Mojang in late-2012.
It did actually encourage people to buy the game, though.

NOTE: minecraftforfree.com wont work now since when you go to it, it will redirect you to the minecraft store. Eli Grey's browser version of minecraft works fine!

Minecraft costs 20 Euros. Playing for free is illegal. Though there's a lot of debate over whether pirating Minecraft is ok or not, it's still illegal. Support Mojang! Buy the game.
