I made an account to see what the heck it was, as some people talked about it, and I forgot about it years later until I got emails marked as spam by gmail.com. I looked up the end of their email, (after @) and saw that the site was rated dark red by WOT. The site was vresp, com. (. replaced with , to avoid people accidentally clicking, look it up on WOT if you want, but do not visit unless you want viruses.) So, in conclusion, this website is UNSAFE. Also, for some reason, my comment says I haven't rated, however I rated it 0 (max dark red).
I spent about $100 on Neopets merchandise. Shortly thereafter, I lost a lot of virtual currency (1.2 million Neopoints) in two trading post glitches (that had been known to occur for months, and yet nothing had been done to fix it, or warn users). This was in the days before the Help Centre existed, so I asked a staff member for help and there was no response. The Neopoints were never restored to my account, even after I sent in a ticket years later. Since people are paying them real money, they have a responsibility to be more accountable to the users.
Telling people not to use user-created shops, the Neoboards and more is PARANOIA and just causes panic. The cookie grabber hysteria is over and the filters and monitors are strong enough not to let past any scams. People should be creating helpful safety pages, not telling others how to have less fun on Neopets. This is a genuinely safe site.
It's an O-KAY site, but there are LOTS of scams, be careful of external links to the things listed here. The advertisements are also very annoying and in your face. And the customer service is TERRIBLE. Don't expect anything besides a generic response from an automated system if you contact them.
This website is now pure faggotry. What I rate comes from millions of others users, not mine.
1) Account gets banned for no apparent/very low reason.
2) Flooded with 'noobs' on the boards.
3) The favoritism. A hacker hacked the whole site and they excused it by some labratory issue ray.
4) Advertisements are all around the place.
5) They don't give a damn about the users. It's all about money.
6)Good amount of online dating especially between kids. Bunch of posers.
Overall, I reccomend avoiding this website. It is faggotry. It is unfair to it's innocent users. And most of all, a complete waste of life.
This is a very child friendly site. I would highly recommend this site to anyone with kids. Your kids can play for hours and there would not be a problem.
THe only negative for this site is the vendor reliability. Sometimes, your neopoints get lost. This can happen during the auction house, through glitches, or they are stolen. Neopets are not good at resolving the issues and this can be quite frustrating when you pay real money for the prizes.
I couldn't sign up for an account by email nor Facebook at one point. I think it might of been the browser because it worked with Internet Explorer but not Mozilla Firefox. I kept getting an error message on step 3 (email), deleted Neopet cookies so I could restart, couldn't retry with the same username (it said it was taken but I know it wasn't taken in those 2 minutes).
This is a great site that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is child-friendly and moderated to insure that little or no talk of adult concepts comes about, and to insure that the children who use the site are not endangered. Breaking the rules too grievously or too many times can result in warnings, account suspensions, or "freezing" of an account.
There are advertisements on the side, top, and bottom of page, and these can be annoying. (As always, it is not a good idea to click on advertisements.) I suggest using an advertisement-blocker such as Adblocker Plus to take care of these. They will cut down on the hassle and annoyance very much. These advertisements are there mostly to keep the site free of charge.
