They are useful to help prevent denial of service attacks on your own system or watching geo restricted material from other countries. However, unless the data is contained by a company who keeps no logs, there is always the potential to compromise personal data. If this is an issue for you, use a VPN service instead. Preferably one that manages the entire network, rather than share details with affiliates whom you may not know, or trust. Only the VPN service provider can still see what data is being transferred and has the encryption keys to decrypt the encrypted connection. Above taken as a read, I have no reason to believe this company is anything other than a genuine, ethical service provider
