Scrubs has been charging my credit card for over two years without my knowledge. I do t remember signing up for an account and I never received notification that someone had signed up for an account. This company is a scam a I would suggest staying away from them at all costs.
My experience with Scribd has not been a positive experience. First of all, I have NEVER even subscribed, yet “3” of my company credit cards have been compromised by an unknown individual who has an account with Scribd. I’ve had to cancel the cards and wait for new cards to be replaced; only to have the cards compromised yet again. I attempted to contact this company with no success. The only way to correspond is to email Support, which I have done on numerous occasions. Only to receive emails from “various employees” with an automatic reply. If their subscription is anything like their communication, I would strongly suggest looking for a reputable company. As I believe this company is shady as
After just a couple of times where I uploaded a book to get a download, this time I was asked to upload 5 in exchange for 1, then when my download appeared, I clicked on the one available link and it opens fishing windows, and no way to go back, no acknowledgment that I never got my download, it asked for another 5 pdfs!
Requests paid registration or uploading to access the documents... that are actually free. The way my traffic jumped, the site looks very suspicious - can potentially contain malware.
I found Scribid By Accident Looking For a book for a Friend !
Signed Up / Downloaded Book (AS PDF) - ALL FINE !!
It said "Cancel at any time - during 30 Day Trial !!!!" -Great .
BUT ****
Received an email saying "Payment of £x.xx will be taken on XX date !!) - am in UK
Turned out to be ONE Day before TRIAL ENDED - What a CON ,
AS means you get Charged for Trial Period
After immediately unsubscribing - ALSO , blocked Payment (easy via Paypal )
SO my thoughts are BEWARE !!!!
I don't like the way they promote the payed membership. The service is supposed to be free by default, but every time you login they ask you to start the trial and accept to be charged automatically as soon as the trial is over. The users should be able to decide to pay or not AFTER testing the service, not before!
This site uses deceptive practices (bait-and-switch tactics) as well as privacy concerns, i.e., cookie mining. They use the same scam tactics as do many of the online streaming scam sites which ask for a credit card for their free trial period.
They offer content which they clearly do not own but charge access fees. This is likely illegal and the conditions are fraudulent.
Not trustworthy.
I have been charged the monthly membership fee for SCRIBD for well over a year, and when I've tried to log in, they tell me there's no record of me - as a member or as payor.
Tried calling them - you get a recording, and there's no way to leave a message. I emailed them (from their "Contact us" link). No help whatsoever. I can't decide if they are running a fraudulent operation, or are just badly run. Either way, I'm ending all contact with, and payment to, SCRIBD.com.
As per Wikipedia, "XXX wanted to create a simple way to publish and share written content online.... Scribd was called "the YouTube for documents," allowing anyone to self-publish on the site using its document reader." It appeared to operate the same as YouTube and seems simple. Suddenly there was a paywall set up so that access to all the documents (equivalent = videos on YouTube) were limited unless the customer paid for them. Imagine if that happened on YouTube.
There are similar services which imply they are the same as any other upload repository where the host is putting up ads in exchange for hosting your content to allow anyone and everyone to have freedom of access. If you search on the Internet you'll find them. I was incredibly disappointed to discover that Scribd and others were nothing at all like YouTube. Instead, they gave me one impression and later a wholly different impression.
I can list tonnes of issue on this lousy website. But just for the main issue:
First: On google search this website proudly advertised "Free download as PDF File (.pdf), Text File (.txt) or read online for free" while the fact is you need to pay $9 just to access the file. What a scammer...
Second: This website also forced you to use facebook just to access the file, and if you give them your contact detail they will spam the hell out of you...
Third: This site is an obvious copyright infringing website, with uploads of various copyrighted works in the website. Worse still is many of the pdf files that are needed to pay to access on this site are actually available for free in their official websites.
THIS SITE IS HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED, AND I HOPE I CAN SEE THEM BEING CLOSED DOWN!
