Very powerful and useful planetarium freeware. Learn to use this and you will become Master of the Universe! Must input your location for the displays to make any sense. Once you become proficient you can easily change time and location. Will show constellations, planets and deep-sky objects, whichever grid system you'd like to see, much more. Simulates eclipses, has decent high-power depictions of celestial wonders. Zoom and direction change very easy. Incredibly helpful in the field, will control your telescope if you have such capability. One of my favorite applications.

Stellarium is a great open-source planetarium software. It is extensible, with star catalogs available for download. Great for people who don't have access to a telescope.

One of the many things I like to do is go sit outside and look at the stars. If ever I see something I just gotta know what it is, Stellarium always has the answers.
