12-28-2017 truste.org become truste.COM ! This "orgainzation" becomme a commercial society, like Symantec, for profit of course, that's an explanation for bad websites trusts! Trusts recognized "organizations" aren't ever trust.
01-01-2017 Symantec and TRUSTe can trust a bad sites or societies despite spams, scams... be careful.
IMHO, anybody paying the fee will be "certified"! After reading all the MyWOT comments, read the info at the links below, then decide if "the TRUSTe seal" means anything at all.
I definitely agree with "Kissaki" on 22-05-2014 saying "Misleading seal: ..."!
The firm behind this (un)TRUSTe(e) program is named "True Ultimate Standards Everywhere, Inc.". IMHO, they do have the market cornered on hyperbole, do they not?

[the truste seal] indicates only that the site has self-certified as complying with the site's own privacy statement and TRUSTe’s program requirements
(as per en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truste)
You should also read up on the enforcement section with reference links in wikipedia.
Even with numerous complaints truste has a very low number of enforcements or terminations. In fact, according to a stury, websites *with* the seal are *more* likely to violate privacy policies than uncertified sites.
Apart from the seal service, the website itself is confusing to me and does not present me the companys products in an understandable manner.
They potentially provide services to other companies to help establish good security or privacy practices.
Despite the claims in other reviews, lately, I've been getting lots of spam from sites marked with TRUSTe.
For instance, http://www.verticalresponse.com. They are an email marketing firm (which means Spam) and they swear they only send solicited email (which happens to come to an email address I never use for any kind of product registration or email newsletter, ever).
So, TRUSTe, not very TRUSTe. I think they just sell their seal to practically anyone on good faith. But that's the same thing as trust. They should be called FAITHe.
