This site is the source and destination of sneaky, illicit, virtually impossible to uninstall adware. Block *.superfish.com in WOT, AdBlock, NoScript/ScriptNo, and anywhere else you can.

After a little investigation it turned out to be a sophisticated visual search engine (primarily for online shoppers looking for similarly looking products over the entire web). Not a malware in any sense, and does not even show ads, actually - just images similar to the input.
In any case, the official browser extension is easily disabled while not in a shopping mood. May take a couple more clicks if the service is integrated into another browser addon, as it was initially in my case. But then a 3d party should be responsible for usability. As to the SF search service per se, after several sessions I find it safe and quite efficient.

Superfish is superfishy. It pops up shopping suggestion spam on websites you visit. I have disabled Superfish's Chrome add-on, and its spam still pops up, possibly hidden within another add-on. Stay away.
